Geometric Cutting Board
A qbirt-style cuboid cutting board — a first woodworking project to build with Sean.
The Plan
Build a geometric patterned cutting board using contrasting hardwoods. The goal is something that looks impressive but breaks down into simple, repeatable steps — perfect for a first project with a 7-year-old helper.
Wood Options
- Hard maple — light, durable, food-safe (~$5.99/bf)
- Walnut — dark contrast, beautiful grain (~$12.99/bf)
- Cherry — warm reddish tone, ages beautifully
Kit Shortcut
For a first attempt, Rockler sells ready-to-assemble cutting board kits: - Small kit: ~$31 - Large kit: ~$53 - Woodworkers Source mixed hardwood kit: ~$99
